Eric Tsai, Violin
Musician
25-year-old Taiwanese-American violinist Eric Tsai is currently enrolled in the M.M. program at the Juilliard School, studying with Catherine Cho. He is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Shmuel Ashkenasi and Ida Kavafian. His former teachers also include Jeffrey Flaniken and Sergiu Schwartz. Eric was a semifinalist in the 2018 Menuhin Competition and most recently received 2nd prize and the chamber music prize at the 2019 Michael Hill International Violin Competition. He participated in the 2013 Starling-DeLay Symposium on Violin Studies and has appeared on From the Top, NPR’s nationally syndicated radio broadcast featuring America’s talented young musicians. Eric has played in masterclasses for Ani Kavafian, Joseph Silverstein, Midori, Dora Schwarzberg, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Pamela Frank, and Sylvia Rosenberg, and has performed in various parts of the United States, Europe, and Taiwan. Holding dual Taiwanese and American citizenship, Eric is a strong advocate for the music of Taiwanese composers and seeks to raise awareness and bring music from Taiwan to concert stages around the world.
