New Asia Chamber Music Society (New Asia CMS) is excited to share our spring repertoire featuring the world premiere of an especially commissioned work with attendees of our annual concert.
Opening with Taneyev’s String Trio in D Major, Op.21 performed by the directors of New Asia CMS, our 2019 annual concert Imagery in Music draws a connection and inspiration between visual and sound. Schubert’s Piano Quintet in A Major, D. 667 fourth movement was inspired by his earlier lied (song) “The Trout”, which tells the story of a trout being caught by a fisherman. CANVAS, a newly commission worked by Korean-American composer Jeeyoung Kim, was inspired by painter Adolph Gottlieb and features a conversation between the traditional Chinese violin, erhu, and traditional Korean violin, haeguem, adding another layer of sound to this cross-cultural concert.
This concert will be live recorded for New Asia CMS’ upcoming album and features a special seating that surrounds the musicians in an intimate concert setting.
