Born in South Korea, a cellist and an entrepreneur, Jane Lee immigrated to the US at the age of ten and began studying cello in New York. From the start of her studies, Ms. Lee won numerous competitions and positions such as the New York Music Competition of YWCA, two-time winner of the Young Artist Chamber Music Competition of the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, and Principal Cello Position of New York Laureate Orchestra. In 2011, she was admitted to the Juilliard School as a student of Timothy Eddy with a merit scholarship from which she received her bachelor's degree in music. She graduated from Manhattan School of Music with a master's degree and also received her Professional Performance Certificate from USC Thornton School of Music. Over the course of her studies, she has worked with legendary cellists such as Philippe Muller, Ralph Kirshbaum, Frans Helmerson, Andrew Shulman, Amit Peled, Paul Katz, and Peter Wiley.
Ms. Lee actively performs around the world as a chamber and orchestral musician. She was invited to attend the Conservatoire American de Fontainebleau in France with a full scholarship and stipend where she got to work and perform with world-renowned musicians such as Gary Hoffman, Raphael Merlin (Quatuor Ebene), Alain Meunier, Christian Ivaldi, and Ophelie Gaillard. In France, she entered the chamber music competition, Prix Ravel held by Fondation Ravel in which she won both the First and the Second Prizes with a Piano Trio and a String Quartet. In the US, she had also collaborated with world-renowned musicians such as Alex Kerr, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Steven Doane, and Ilya Kaler and performed various chamber works. As an orchestral musician, she won an audition which led her to join the cello section of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra conducted by legendary violinist, Pinchas Zukerman. Also, she is an active substitute section cellist of the Pasadena Symphony and Pops and Pacific Symphony.
Ms.Lee is also passionate about teaching and has been teaching for over 10 years. She has helped numerous domestic and international students to get admitted to top conservatories and universities in the US. In a mission to reach out and help more students and parents, Ms. Lee founded TopArt Music College Admission Consulting firm in 2021 after studying business CORe certification courses from Harvard Business School Online.
