An Artist Talk & Piano Performance with Chun-Chieh Yen
What does Taiwan sound like to the world?
In this special Artist Talk & Piano Performance, internationally acclaimed pianist Chun-Chieh Yen(嚴俊傑) invites audiences on a musical journey through the sounds and stories of Taiwan.
Drawing from his recent U.S. tour with chamber musicians of the Taiwan Philharmonic, Yen will share the diverse voices of Taiwanese music, from the textures of indigenous traditions to the works of contemporary composers. He will also reflect on his experience performing with OneSong Orchestra (灣聲樂團), a group dedicated to bringing Taiwanese music into the classical tradition.

As a performer, educator, and founder of the International Maestro Piano Festival & Competition (IMPF&C), Yen has long moved between the stage and the classroom, mentoring young musicians while expanding Taiwan’s presence on the global stage through music. His work reflects a deep commitment to artistic mentorship and cultural exchange.
The program will conclude with a short solo piano performance, where Yen will perform two pieces from the Western repertoire through his unique perspective as a Taiwanese pianist, followed by an audience Q&A.

About Chun-Chieh Yen
Hailed as one of the most distinctive pianists of his generation, Chun-Chieh Yen is an artist who transcends mere virtuosity. A storyteller of the keyboard, Yen’s artistry bridges continents, captivating audiences with a rare combination of poetic sensitivity and daring innovation.
Since winning 3rd Prize at the 3rd International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians at age 13, Yen has appeared with prestigious orchestras including the Russian National Orchestra, Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie, and the Taiwan Philharmonic (NSO). He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Mikhail Pletnev, Jun Märkl, and Shao-Chia Lü, performing at iconic venues including New York’s Lincoln Center, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, and Paris’s Salle Cortot.
Yen has undertaken the monumental challenge of performing all 27 Chopin Études in a single sitting and created the "One Day Piano Festival x 3," performing three distinct solo recitals in one day. His discography includes the world-premiere recording of Qigang Chen’s Er Huang for Naxos and a Golden Melody Award-winning debut album. A pioneer of cross-genre creativity, his multimedia performances with filmmaker Sylvia Chang reached tens of thousands at the Shanghai World Expo.
A dedicated educator and artistic leader, Yen is a Professor at National Taiwan Normal University and the founder of the International Maestro Piano Festival & Competition (IMPF&C). His expertise is sought after globally; he has served on the juries of prestigious international piano competitions, including Campillos (Spain), Santa Cecilia (Portugal), James Mottram (UK), and Isidor Bajić (Serbia). Whether on stage or in the classroom, Yen continues to shape a singular artistic path that surprises, challenges, and inspires.
嚴俊傑
鋼琴家嚴俊傑以其充滿靈氣且具敘事感的詮釋著稱,被譽為當代最具辨識度的鋼琴家之一。他的藝術足跡橫跨歐、美、亞三大洲,以敏銳的感性與大膽的創新精神,在國際樂壇獨樹一幟。
自13歲榮獲第三屆國際柴可夫斯基青少年音樂大賽大獎後,嚴俊傑隨即展開演奏生涯。他曾受邀與俄羅斯國家管弦樂團 (RNO)、德國萊茵愛樂及國家交響樂團 (NSO) 等頂尖樂團合作,並與普雷特涅夫、馬寇爾、呂紹嘉等指揮大師同台,演出足跡遍及紐約林肯中心、聖彼得堡愛樂大廳及巴黎柯爾托廳。
真正定義其藝術高度的,是他勇於開拓的精神。嚴俊傑曾單場演繹全套 27 首《蕭邦練習曲》,並創下單日內連續演奏三場主題獨奏會的紀錄。他在錄音成就上亦十分豐碩,除了為 Naxos 錄製陳其鋼《二黃》鋼琴協奏曲之權威版本,更與影壇巨擘張艾嘉跨界合作,於上海世博會呈獻大型多媒體音樂會。2008 年,他憑藉首張個人專輯榮獲第 19 屆金曲獎「最佳古典演奏獎」。
除演奏外,嚴俊傑亦是深具影響力的教育家與策展人,現任國立臺灣師範大學教授,並創辦「國際大師鋼琴藝術節暨大賽 (IMPF&C)」。他多次受邀擔任西班牙坎皮優斯、葡萄牙聖瑟西莉亞、英國曼徹斯特莫特拉姆及塞爾維亞拜吉奇等國際大賽評審,持續以其原創性與遠見,啟發新一代的鋼琴藝術家。
