Stephanie Chou, vocal & saxophone

STEPHANIE CHOU is a Chinese-American jazz composer/saxophonist/singer who blends influences from her Chinese heritage with Western jazz and pop to create a bracingly original sound that draws audiences across the globe. She’s performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, B.B. King's, Joe's Pub, and in jazz festivals across the US and Asia where her music creates immediate cross-cultural connections and continues to expand her fanbase.

Her quintet combines saxophone and vocals in Mandarin/English with Chinese violin (erhu), viola, and a jazz rhythm section. Chou’s albums include Prime Knot (featuring Marcus Printup) and Asymptote, which focused on jazz reinventions of classic Chinese folk songs and featured GRAMMY-nominated musicians Kenny Wollesen and John Escreet, and erhu/viola virtuoso Andy Lin. Andy Lin, viola & erhu
Taiwanese born violist and erhuist, Andy Lin, is recognized as one of the most promising and the only active performers who specialized in both western and eastern instruments.  Praised by The Strad “The great Molto adagio…..elicited some of the night’s most sensitive work, especially from Wei-Yang Andy Lin on viola.” and New York Times “Taiwanese-born violist Wei-Yang Andy Lin..…is also a virtuoso on the erhu, and he gave a brilliant performance.” Andy is the artistic director and co-founder of the New Asia Chamber Music Society and holds his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School and his Doctor’s degree in Musical Arts from SUNY Stony Brook.  He has won numerous competitions including Taiwan National Viola Competition and First Prize in the 2008 Juilliard Viola Concerto Competition. Read full bio. Kelly Lin, keyboard
Dr. Kelly Yu-Chieh Lin is a talented Taiwanese pianist known for her versatility and mastery of multiple instruments including the piano, violin, viola, and er-hu. With a career highlighted by award-winning performances and regular appearances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Dr. Lin is a respected performer and educator. In 2014, she was invited to perform at the Trinity Church Concert on Wall Street and served as a judge for the Steinway Society Competition. Currently, she holds positions as a piano faculty member and accompanist for various prestigious music programs and schools, including the Berkshire Summer Music, the Meadowmount School of Music, and the Westminster Piano High School Camp.
