Between The Bars | Paige Su, singer-songwriter, harp, bansuri, bass/guitar

  • Manhattan Elite Club 225 West 34th Street New York, NY 10122 United States (map)

This April, Between the Bars welcomes Paige Su 蘇珮卿 with a workshop like you’ve never experienced before.

Paige Su 蘇珮卿 is a rare singer-songwriter who performs original music while singing and playing the electric harp within a full band setting. A multi-instrumentalist and composer, she is also proficient in piano, flute, Indian bansuri, orchestration, and film scoring. Her tender yet commanding voice contrasts with bold rhythmic textures and a fiercely individual musical language — a duality that acclaimed Taiwanese artist Sandy Checn (陳珊妮) described as existing “between elegance and explosion.”

Su has received 13 nominations alone from the Golden Indie Music Awards (TW) and two nominations at the Golden Melody Awards. She won Best Album of the Year and Best Singer-Songwriter at the 13th Golden Indie Music Awards for her 2nd album You’ll Live Forever in My Songs, as well as Best Live Performance and Best Alternative Single. Internationally, she earned multiple honors at Singapore’s Freshmusic Awards, including Best Female Vocalist.

A graduate of the University of North Texas, where she majored in Western classical performance (flute and harp), Su has also spent years studying South Indian classical music. This cross-cultural foundation informs her genre-fluid approach, blending classical discipline with alternative textures, experimental rhythm, and cinematic scope.

Her releases include the 2024 short film soundtrack Duet, the 2023 English-language album You’ll Live Forever in My Songs, the 2017 album We Are All Lonely (while signed under Sony Music Taiwan), and earlier EPs and singles dating back to 2011. Her music has been featured by American outlets such as Consequence, Atwood Magazine, and Under the Radar and countless Taiwanese media.

Internationally, Su has performed at venues including Japan’s No Maps Festival in Hokkaido, the Australia Harp Festival, and France’s Harpe Au Max Festival. She has appeared on National Geographic Channel’s Chasing The Sun and was a Top 8 finalist on Sing My Song China under mentor Liu Huan.

She has also collaborated with major Asian artists including 林憶蓮, 魏如萱, 田馥甄, 林宥嘉, and 王若琳 as a harpist, touring musician, recording artist, and special guest performer. And composed a piece for a Chinese Orchestra and currently scoring for a major Netflix Production.

Intimate yet explosive, refined yet untamed, Paige Su’s work continues to expand the possibilities of what the harp — and the singer-songwriter form — can be.
